Karmine Corp beat AG.AL, and the bracket moved on. That takes about two seconds to read. It probably took AG.AL a little longer to sit with.

They came in favored. Not loudly, nobody put up a banner, but in the quiet arithmetic of seeding and pedigree, they were the team that was supposed to be there next week. Runner-up at the 2025 EWC. This year the finish was supposed to be better than that.

It wasn’t.

There’s also the other thing, which is that Karmine Corp is a French team. Playing in Paris. At Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, which is not a neutral room when your name is on half the jerseys in the crowd. You can have all the regional pedigree in the world and still walk into that atmosphere and feel something shift.

All three LPL teams are gone now. BLG, JDG, AG.AL, the Chinese region sent its depth and watched it exit at the quarterfinals. BLG has attended every EWC. Their quarterfinal record is three played, zero won. Past a certain point, that’s not misfortune. That’s a tendency.

The semifinals: Gen.G, T1, Dplus KIA, Karmine Corp. Two of those teams have won this tournament. One has never been this far. The fourth is KC, and they’re figuring the same thing out in real time.
