EWC 2026 Week 5: Co-Streams Overtake Official Channels

Week 5 of the Esports World Cup 2026 did not set an overall peak concurrent viewers record. Compared to Week 4, the headline peak was lower; compared to Week 5 of the 2025 edition, total watch time across seven events was up 255.5%. Those two readings describe almost completely different phenomena.

Honor of Kings at 783K: What a Peak Actually Measures

The Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 finished as the most-watched event of Week 5 and, per Esports Charts, the game’s most successful competitive tournament to date: 783K peak concurrent viewers, 4.8 million watch hours, fifth place by peak viewership among all EWC 2026 events so far.

The shape of that viewership matters more than the ceiling. Honor of Kings grand finals receive heavy promotional distribution on Facebook. Group Stage and Playoffs games draw comparatively modest audiences; the final spikes. This is not an organically growing audience pattern. It is a distribution decision: someone chose Facebook reach as the mechanism, and the data confirms it worked.

“Honor of Kings is growing” and “a targeted Facebook campaign can generate a 783K concurrent peak” are not the same claim. They have different cost structures and different durability. The numbers available do not distinguish between them.

Tekken and Call of Duty: Two Different Signals

The Tekken event at EWC 2026 reached 114.1K peak concurrent viewers and 1.34 million watch hours, both new all-time series records for the title. The geographic composition is the more useful data point: the top eight featured three players from Pakistan and one from Saudi Arabia. The match between Khawaja Muhammad “M. Zubair” Zubair and Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique drew audience engagement from across the MENA region. Tekken’s competitive audience is accumulating in places that most esports broadcast infrastructure still treats as secondary markets.

For Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, French-language viewership on Twitch and a higher number of broadcasting channels both contributed to a 271.8K peak, a new EWC series record for the title. OpTic Gaming won a second consecutive EWC championship. The French co-streaming contribution is not fully separable from the official channel numbers. Two engines, running partly in parallel.

Co-Streams Overtake Official Channels

For the first time since Week 2, co-streaming audiences exceeded official channels in Week 5. PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 drove the shift. Both are titles where co-streaming is built into how the audience assembles, not added on top of an existing official viewership base.

Raj “Snax Gaming” Varma, an Indian gaming YouTuber, generated 3.28 million watch hours through his PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026 broadcasts alone. The top co-streamers for the PUBG Mobile event came from India and Nepal. For Call of Duty, Seth “Scump” Abner led among Western creators; French was the second-most-popular broadcast language.

The tournament supplies the competitive event. Independent creators supply the context in which most of these viewers actually watch it. If platform economics around co-streaming were to shift. Rights restrictions, changed monetization structures, creator fatigue, the viewership figures for both titles would fall without any change to the quality of competition.

Club Championship: Points and Watch Hours Are Not the Same Scoreboard

After Week 5, All Gamers leads the Club Championship with 3,350 points, ahead of Team Falcons on 2,900 and Natus Vincere on 2,250. All Gamers carries entries in 13 tournaments and has already logged one first-place finish and two runner-up spots.

Team Falcons, the two-time defending champion, leads the competition in total watch hours: 35.51 million across the first five weeks. Aurora Gaming sits second at 22.73 million; All Gamers third at 22.69 million, a gap of 40,000 watch hours between them.

The two rankings measure different things. Points track competitive results. Watch hours track where audiences chose to spend their attention. Falcons is generating more audience than any other club in the field while sitting 450 points behind the leader. The Club Championship does not award points for audience size.

Whether the points gap closes in the remaining weeks depends on what each club still has in play. The math is open. The pressure is not symmetrical.
