EWC 2026 Week 3: MLBB Carries 77% of All Viewership

One game, 77.6% of everything

Between July 20 and 26, the Esports World Cup generated 24.2 million Hours Watched, roughly half of Week 2’s total. Esports Charts points to the absence of major finals as the main driver: TFT, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and EA FC 26 all concluded during this window without pulling significant audiences.

The organizers’ headline will be the peak viewers figure. During ONIC’s group-stage win over Selangor Red Giants, the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 crossed 2 million concurrent viewers, the highest peak of any EWC 2026 event so far, with the playoffs still ahead. That number is real.

What it describes is also real: MLBB generated 77.6% of all EWC viewership in Week 3. One title, one week, three-quarters of everything. That’s not a multi-title event performing well. That’s a multi-title event being carried.

What the other titles actually did

PUBG: Battlegrounds grew its Average Viewers year over year, pushed by Vietnamese-language broadcasts. Its Peak Viewers still fell 23.4% compared to EWC 2025. The audience exists; it just doesn’t concentrate.

EA FC 26 told a similar story. Average Viewers and Hours Watched both rose, pulled largely by French-language viewership. Peak Viewers dropped 6%, even with a Benzema vs. Amine showmatch that outperformed last year’s Ronaldo Nazário vs. Kaká matchup by a meaningful margin. The celebrity ceiling is getting higher; the tournament floor isn’t following.

Teamfight Tactics recorded what Esports Charts describes as one of the weakest viewership results in the entire EWC series. Its audience fell by roughly half compared to last year. TFT has been a reliable mid-table presence in esports viewership for years. Half isn’t a fluctuation.

The community casting number nobody led with

During the first two weeks of EWC 2026, community casters accounted for 56–58% of total viewership. In Week 3, their share fell to 34%.

The mechanism is straightforward: MLBB dominated the week, and Mobile Legends audiences aggregate on official channels: YouTube, TikTok, platform-managed streams, rather than distributing across independent casters. Zay Casting Channel led community broadcasting with 825K Hours Watched and a peak of 106.7K viewers. Solid numbers. Also roughly half its performance during the M7 World Championship.

This isn’t a complaint about Week 3. It’s a structural observation: the EWC’s community casting share is partly a function of which game is in rotation. When MLBB runs, independent streamers shrink as a percentage. The aggregate figures that make the event look like a thriving streamer ecosystem depend significantly on which weeks you’re measuring.

The leaderboard, and what it proves

Natus Vincere held first in the Club Championship standings after Week 3 with 2,250 points, partly thanks to its PUBG roster finishing third. Virtus.pro climbed to second at 1,950 after winning the PUBG tournament outright and adding 200 points from a TFT playoff run. Team Vision moved within range of the top three by winning TFT.

Fifty-nine different clubs have earned points across three weeks. No organization has won two tournaments yet. The format does distribute competitive relevance across titles. Whether audience follows is a separate question, and Week 3 answered it bluntly: it doesn’t, not at equivalent scale.

The record, and what it’s carrying

A 2-million peak in a group-stage match is a legitimate number. MLBB’s EWC record sits at 3.06 million Peak Viewers, and the playoffs are still to come. The Mid Season Cup may approach it.

The question isn’t whether MLBB can produce peaks. It’s what the EWC looks like in a week when MLBB isn’t on the schedule. Week 3 made that visible: the remaining titles produce solid regional audiences in specific language communities, but they don’t add up to something that reads as a single property at scale.

That dependency may be intentional. Saudi investment in mobile esports specifically, MLBB’s Southeast Asian footprint, the format’s architecture, all of it could be designed with this weight distribution in mind. But if it is, the EWC hasn’t said so. And if it isn’t, Week 3 is the week the math became difficult to ignore.
