With just 51 days left in 2024, Marc Campás Rigat has likely secured the “goal of the year” title. The Catalan winger for ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra scored a stunning debut goal in the First Division last Saturday, delivering an overhead kick off a pinpoint assist from Raúl Jiménez. This near-angle goal against Fabio Alvira quickly went viral, despite his team ultimately losing 3-2 to Córdoba World Heritage Site.
Reflecting on the goal, the former Barça youth player, who grew up in Mataró, explained to Relief, “When I saw the ball in the middle of the court, I knew I’d try for the bicycle kick. I positioned myself, thinking I might not even connect, but Raúl’s pass was perfect.” Marc’s teammates and even his opponents praised the goal, with many telling him to keep attempting such moves.
Marc has become known for his flair with overhead kicks. Back in May 2022, during the U-21 Club World Cup in Brazil, he scored a similar goal for Barça’s reserve team. Assisted by Japanese winger Kokoro Harada. Now 23 and recently signed by Tudela from CSR Anderlecht, Marc is building on the 49 goals he netted in 85 games for Barça’s reserve, where he also had a Champions League appearance. He’s committed to Tudela until June 2025 and said he’s excited to contribute to the club’s project.
Describing his style, Marc calls himself an offensive player who thrives on creating space and driving forward. Dani Santos, who scored the National Futsal League’s “goal of the decade” in 2018, commented on Marc’s goal, calling it “spectacular.” Santos admired both their goals for their difficulty: his for the height he reached, and Marc’s for the challenging angle. He added that without their goalkeepers’ assists, neither goal would’ve been possible.
