Faker has condemned the DDoS attacks on T1, stating they are ‘undermining’ the competitive integrity of League of Legends, while coaches have disclosed the extensive impact on players and the organization.

Throughout the past year, T1’s League of Legends team has faced ongoing DDoS attacks. T1’s manager revealed in April that these attacks have been occurring since December 2023, even affecting LCK matches.

In June, T1 publicly criticized Riot Games, highlighting the need for action as the team had to cancel streams and alter their practice routines.

In the latest episode of T1’s series “The Trophy Room,” Faker and the team coaches discussed the full scope of the DDoS attacks and their potential impact on the esports scene.

kkOma detailed the attacks, stating, “During one of our scrims, our entire IP network at the T1 HQ was attacked, preventing us from practicing. These disruptions affect the players’ conditions, leading to significant personal impact.”

Another coach, Roach, noted the stress caused to players by the frequent disconnections during games.

Faker emphasized the importance of addressing these issues, saying, “Online streams and personal attacks are ongoing and it’s crucial for these concerns to be resolved. If left unaddressed, it could gradually undermine the value of esports. Despite this, our focus remains on doing our best under the current circumstances.”

In April, Rekkles highlighted the severity of the attacks, which have impacted not only the main T1 players but also the academy team and their Valorant squad based at the HQ.

T1 has reported that the persistent attacks prevent players from using SoloQ to stay sharp, leading to “significant financial implications for our organization.” Riot Games has assured that they are working on a solution to the problem.
